The Best of Waterloo

Explore Waterloo Region / Visitor Guide

Waterloo Regional Tourism approached us to create a fresh take on their 2020/21 Visitor Guide.

Situated 60 minutes west of Toronto in the heart of Southwestern Ontario, the region occupies nearly 1369 square km, through which we did a series of deep dives, touring the area over several days.

Once comfortably acquainted with the region, we set out to rethink the 68-page guide to showcase the best the area had to offer – including a redesigned masthead, new editorial features and departments, fresh photography, and a thematic thread that wove the entire story together. Our main goal was to evoke the balance between past and present, rural communities and modern urban amenities, adventurous cuisine, and traditional fare.

After several months of hard work, we were set to go on press. Then COVID struck, the job was pulled, and sadly never made it to market. While the pandemic’s new paradigm rendered much of the information obsolete, we’re hoping aspects of our hard work will be salvageable for the guide’s next manifestation.
